My father, Mike Bruton, who has died aged 79, led a life dedicated to the service of various overlapping communities: the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, in which we lived as a family and of which he became mayor, the Methodist church and the wider community of people with impaired mobility.Mike was born and bred in Bristol, the son of William and his wife, Grace (nee Pearson), who were publicans.
